Photographer Nicholas Walton-Healey

Nicholas Walton-Healey
is an art and documentary photographer whose work celebrates creative expressions of connection and freedom. After ‘discovering’ photography during the final years of his first degree, Walton-Healey completed a Bachelor of Arts (Photography) at RMIT University (2013), refining both his technical skills and conceptual approach.

Driven by a desire to engage deeply with people and place, Walton-Healey conceived and completed Land Before Lines — an extended portrait series of poets from the photographer’s home state of Victoria (published and exhibited in 2014). His passion for collaborative, community-based storytelling quickly led to the Northern Territory, where he connected with two Indigenous communities in Darwin and later began working with an Elder and cultural educator on the Tiwi Islands.

In addition to his personal projects, publications and exhibitions, Nicholas has also undertaken numerous commissions across the arts, health, and community sectors. His clients include ANAT (the Australian Network for Art & Technology), ANZCA (the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists), First Step Program, Grey Melbourne, the NT Lived Experience Network, Star Health and the Yarra Riverkeepers Association, among others.
