15 Mile is the name of an Indigenous community located in the outer-Darwin suburb of Palmerston (this community is also known as Palmerston Indigenous Village). The photographer’s relationship with this community developed from his initial participation in the Eye-See Workshop (April, 2013). It grew through his ensuing participation and documentation of the Indigenous Mens Programs facilitated by Robert E. Lewis, and the friendship he formed through this process with Elder T. Burrenjuck.

Through his invitations to photograph members of his extended family group, T. Burrenjuck fostered an understanding of the importance ascribed to kinship relations, encouraging a unique form of ‘family portraiture.’ Overseen by community leader Phillip Goodman, this connection led Walton-Healey to work with members of the 15 Mile community to develop an extensive body of family and community-based portraiture. These photographs formed the basis of a documentary slideshow and narrative titled Where Blood Comes From. With the support of the community and local service providers, this documentary screened in the Hall during October, 2022.
