Yarro Yarro: Reflections on the River is a photographic meditation on the Yarra (Birrarung) as it winds through inner-city Melbourne. Focussing on reflections discovered along this ever-flowing surface, the series transforms a familiar stretch of water into a shifting mirror of light, pattern and inner-perception. Through an abstract and painterly aesthetic, the river is revered as an expressive presence - a living entity echoing both world and self. Grounded in place but open to interpretation, the work ultimately asks us to think about what we see, and how and why we are looking.

Yarro Yarro: Reflections on the River exhibited in the Dark Horse Experiment (gallery) at The Blender Studios from September 10-20, 2025. The opening event formed part of the 2025 Birrarung Riverfest and served as the occasion for the launch of an accompanying artist’s book.
