The Disassembly Line documents the processes enacted upon a rural abattoir’s killing floor. Focusing on the transformation of livestock into consumable meat, it explores the implications of a violent, repetitive labour, hinting at its potential physical and psychological impact on workers. In registering expressions of detachment and hyper-masculinity, the series questions the equation of economic productivity and human labour, implying a human cost within industrial efficiency.

After exhibiting at Seventh Gallery in Melbourne, 2016, The Disassembly Line re-exhibited at The Work of Art: An Exhibition of Art, Labour & Working Life, a group exhibition held at The Mission to Seafarers in 2018. A selection of photographs from this extended series were also shortlisted for Photo Collective’s 2020 Stories Award.
